Caroline Aitken - Educator Profile

Biography

I run my own business, Whitefield Permaculture, providing courses, design and consultation in the UK and online. I have a background in 3D Design, Horticulture and market gardening and I currently live with my family on a smallholding on Dartmoor, Devon. I originally trained with Patrick Whitefield in 2007 and became his apprentice and eventually co-teacher at Patrick Whitefield Associates. I took on the running of the business when Patrick retired in 2014, and have since renamed it 'Whitefield Permaculture'. Patrick's style was very practical and land-focused, which appealed to me as a gardener and grower. Since training to teach I have drawn a lot on my background in design and I particularly enjoy making the design tools clear and accessible to people. I enjoy the empowering and positive nature of permaculture, and take great pleasure in helping people to gain useful life skills, while entering into a global community of like-minded people.
