Summary:

In the troubled times we live in, it is more important than ever to build bridges that transcend divides of geography and culture so that we, as global citizens, can come together to effect the change we want to see, to take control of our own futures, and to relate to each other and to the environment in a nurturing and enhancing way.

Permaculture Design is an opportunity to do just that, giving us the tools we need to design an abundant future and to join hands with a global network of practitioners, sharing ideas and inspiration to create the world we want to live in.

Taking place at the stunning Tyddyn Teg Community Farm, close to Snowdonia national park in North Wales, this course will place special emphasis on concepts of resilience, rootedness and global community. Bringing together a dynamic and international team of teachers from Palestine, Kashmir, Wales and England, we offer a unique opportunity to explore these concepts in depth, giving both local and global context to the application of permaculture design.

The course will also include visits to Henbant Bach, a holistically managed livestock farm on the beautiful Llyn Peninsula, Pen Y Bonc, a beautifully managed smallholding, and to Cae Mabon – the Welsh Shangri La with input from project founders and visionaries.

Together with an immersive experience at Tyddyn Teg community farm during the height of the harvest season, our combination of lectures, practical activities, design exercises and site visits will ensure that students receive a thoroughly rounded technical training from a diverse array of experienced teachers and practitioners, covering all aspects of the PDC syllabus and plenty of opportunnity to see permaculture in action in different and inspiring ways.

We are excited to come together to offer this unique course and warmly invite participants from all corners of the world and walks of life.

Ekbacka Gård is a lovely self sustainable farm set on 20ha and located 30 kilometres from Kalmar and 15 km from the Baltic coast. Using permaculture techniques and biodynamical farming it is a fabulous example of food production and sustainable living. Since 2006 the farm has been run by Bo, Katrin and the help of their 5 children and volunteers. They added their animals (horses, goats, chickens, dogs, cats) and their dream of developing an eco village. This is a great opportunity for students to see a real project where permaculture is combined successfully with community and family life.

We are offering a highly affordable and beautiful experience of learning and inspiration, in our PDC course. Based in the natural and gorgeous surroundings of the Sierra Nevada mountains, it is a 14 day long residential course, that we have tried to design in the most balanced way that we can.
Making sure that the intense theoretical lessons in the classroom are balanced out by practical workshops and exciting 'field trips' to visit farms, communities and gardens in the local valleys and mountains.
We feel it is important to see the subjects that we study being put into action, experiencing the ways people put the ideas into effect.
Our local area includes many different eco-systems from the snowy peaks and sides of the mountains where it’s more similar to northern Europe, all the way down to the completely sub-tropical coastline on the Mediterranean Sea. So some of the information that we learn is certainly applicable to your own regions of the world.
The local area also includes many opportunities for continuing your permaculture journey, such as Volunteering on farms, practising design skills, working at the local seed bank, it’s a hive of eco-minded activity!
Taught by local farmer Ras John Cresswell and with special guest teacher Cathy Whitefield, who has had great experience facilitating and teaching Permaculture courses for many years in the UK, with her partner and famous U.K. permaculture godfather, Patrick Whitefield. As well as teaching she will also be helping with facilitation for the course itself. The course will also include five other guest teachers.
This course has a maximum of twenty people, but we had many requests for the last course, so please be quick in booking if you want a place!
