We are offering a highly affordable and beautiful experience of learning and inspiration, in our PDC course. Based in the natural and gorgeous surroundings of the Sierra Nevada mountains, it is a 14 day long residential course.
The intense theoretical lessons in the classroom are balanced out by practical workshops and exciting 'field trips' to visit 2 other permaculture projects in the local valleys and mountains. We feel it is important to see the subjects that we study being put into action, experiencing the ways people put permaculture in practice.
The local area also includes many opportunities for continuing your permaculture journey, such as Volunteering on farms, practising design skills, working at the local seed bank, it’s a hive of eco-minded activity!
Taught by local farmer Ras John Cresswell and with special guest teacher Cathy Whitefield, partner of famous U.K. permaculture godfather, Patrick Whitefield. The course will also include five other guest teachers.
The course is a camping course, but this option offers a nice accommodation in a lovely dome next door. For more information please check: supernatural-permaculture.com/accommodation/

This course has a maximum of twenty people, but we had many requests for the last course, so please be quick in booking if you want a place!

WEEKEND THREE OF A 3 LONG WEEKEND PDC WITH HOME ASSIGNMENTS INBETWEEN

Permaculture design is all about creating ecologically sound ways of living based on observing natural systems and applying ecological principles to what we do. It equips you to care for the earth, yourself, and others in ways that are resilient, abundant, and rewarding - and it can be a truly life-changing.

The basic qualification for doing permaculture design is a Permaculture Design Certificate. This course offers you the opportunity to gain your PDC in three modules. These plus some guided study between modules cover the full PDC curriculum as endorsed by the membership of the Permaculture Association. The Permaculture Association will also issue your final certificate, which is recognised by other permaculture practitioners internationally.

Part of the course is held at the Centre for Alternative Technology in mid-Wales, a world renowned centre for learning and demonstrating ecological ways of living, and will also incorporate visits to other inspirational sites where experienced permaculture practitioners will show you how they have applied permaculture thinking to their projects.

Please note that Permaculture 1 and 2 are pre-requisites for Permaculture 3

Your tutors, Dr Angie Polkey and Dr Alice Gray, have many years of experience in using permaculture thinking and applying it in practice, in some very wide-ranging fields of activity including in Africa, Palestine and Kashmir. They are also established teachers with lots of experience of teaching diverse groups of adults in accessible and dynamic ways.

Summary:

The modular Permaculture Design Course (PDC) in Glasgow is approaching it's 9th year. Over the years we students and skill-sharers have learnt so much - about permaculture, learning, teaching, creating community, and the many different aspects of permaculture from taking time to sit still and do nothing, mapping, identifying trees, the permaculture design process, permaculture ethics and principles and much more. The design of the course enables us to learn from different people, places and in different ways, with the input from the tutors reducing over the weekends as students gain confidence and practice their own skills in designing and teaching. Come and join us on this beautiful, life-affirming journey to discover positive solutions to the world's problems.
