This certified PDC comes in an evening class format to be more accessible to those with home and work commitments. It takes place every year in Birdwood House, central Totnes on Wednesday evenings from mid January until late March. Sessions are led by Caroline Aitken and Seema Patel, with guest tutors. The course also includes 3 weekends on activity. The first weekend includes visits to Martin Crawford of the Agroforestry Research Trust in his 2 acre forest garden in Dartington; the REconomy Centre in Totnes with talks from Hal Gilmore and Jay Tompt about the Transition movement and alternative economics and the Waterleat micro-hydro project on Dartmoor- community energy scheme. The other two weekends will include practical design activities including mapping, site surveys and design work.

Permaculture Design Certification Course at Suryalila
Join us for an amazing two weeks of immersion training in permaculture design. Our host, Suryalila Yoga Retreat Center, a world class facility in Andalusia, Spain provides the opportunity to study permaculture in a stunningly beautiful and nurturing setting. Suryalila offers daily yoga classes, bountiful vegetarian meals and an opportunity to engage in the ongoing development of their property.
Permaculture is a solutions based approach to home, farm and community development, rooted in the belief that the solution to many pressing issues facing humanity lay in good ecological design.
Suryalila’s permaculture project, Danyadara, is multi year project to demonstrate the use of permaculture design to create a bountiful, productive landscape to provide produce to the Retreat Center and the surrounding communities. Course participants will work to further design details for Danydara’s master plan.
This 80 hour, 14 day certification course will provide an in depth immersion in permaculture design. The course work will include curriculum topics presented using a variety of methodologies, including lectures, discussions, hands on activities, and group design projects.

This course runs over six weekends,, running from 2nd December 2017 to 27th May 2018 at a seaside venue that is handy for Cheshire, Merseyside and North Wales.
The programme is designed to help you deal with the complexities of modern life, whether you are in an urban or sub-urban setting, or in a rural location.
